Getting started.
My name is Lee Silverman, I'm fat, and I don't like it. I'm setting out to get fit again.
My first goal is simply to start running consistently. I've been on again off again for this past summer, but I keep falling off the wagon. Hopefully keeping a blog on my progress will help me stick with it.
Running itself has never been my problem. My problem is that I am incredibly injury prone. That's a muscular issue, not a cardio issue. I've always gotten into trouble because I can run longer than I should.
So right now, and probably through the end of November, I'm not really running to run. I'm running as a warm up to stretching. On off days, I'll work on strengthening.
Today's run was just 16 minutes -- 8:05 minutes out and 8:15 back. Then a walk home and 20 minutes of stretching. I was incredibly tight. I did quads, hamstrings, calves, then quads hamstrings, calves again & finally hip flexors. I was at home so I used the calf stretcher, which is an amazing device.
Tomorrow I'll do some strength work.
